Q: Who can apply?

A: Any family with a student entering grades K-8 who is attending Catholic elementary school on Long Island in need of tuition assistance. Awards are based on economic circumstance and financial need from the prior tax year.

Scholarships are awarded up to $3,500 per student. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students based on:

  • Financial eligibility and funding availability

  • Household size, and reported income and expenses of the prior tax year

  • Date of application completion with all required documents submitted and verified (applicants will receive an email notification from FACTS when completed)

Q: When can I apply? Is there a deadline?

A: The application process is open from late January throughout the summer. As funding is limited, awards are granted to those applicants in need on a first come, first served basis. It is recommended that your application be completed by April 30th, if not earlier to be considered in the first round of funding. • Decisions will be sent to families, via email and mail, on a rolling basis after completion of the application, beginning after the Round 1 deadline of April 30th.

  • Eligible applicants will be awarded until funding is exhausted

  • The earlier an application is completed, the better the chances are that your application will be reviewed

Only completed applications will be considered. Applications are marked complete after all required supporting documents have been submitted and you receive an email confirmation from FACTS. After April 30, 2022, Round 1 deadline, families will still be permitted to apply for financial aid, but priority will be given to families who completed before April 30th. Although every effort is made to grant tuition assistance to all those eligible, we can only grant awards as funding permits.  If we are unable to award you, please reach out to the parish or school where your child is registered regarding other options that may be available.

Q: How often must I apply?

A: Families should complete one application per household each year they are in need of aid. If you received an award in the past, that does not mean you are guaranteed an award every year. Families must submit a new application each year.

Q: Is there an application fee? If so, how do I pay?

A: Yes, there is a small processing fee charged by FACTS. Online applications are $40 to be paid online only.

Q: Do I need additional documents or information to complete the application?

A: FACTS requires copies of your last tax return and W2. If you do not file taxes or receive a W-2, please contact THF directly to complete your application at [email protected]

Q: When will I be notified of a decision?

A: Notification of a decision is dependent on the time an application is completed and when THF is reviewing applications. A decision letter will be mailed to the address provided on your application, as well as an email from FACTS to the email on your application.

Q: If I receive an award, do I get the money?

A: Tomorrow’s Hope will transfer the award money directly to the school. Your school will deduct the award amount from your tuition.

Q: What if I receive an award, but I am still in financial need?

A: Families that are experiencing extenuating circumstances, i.e., job loss, major illness, etc., can appeal their original award decision. If you are interested in appealing, contact THF directly. You will receive a decision regarding your appeal before school starts.
